Tarja Sahlstedt grew up in the rural countryside of Finland. After studying
applied theatre in Turku Arts Academy she has created site-specific
performances taking place for instance in castle rock hill and old factory.
She’s inspired how landscapes and surroundings became part of the
performance adding layers in it.

Recently in her works, she has been interested in themes of hope and
sensitivity. In one of her most personal performance My King, she explored
the mental landscape of addiction and struggle, performed as a part of the
Finnish National Theatre Touring Stage. Characteristic tools in her
performances are strong visuality, poetic language, and multilayered
dramaturgy.

In her future works, she hopes to allow herself to travel more and more
towards vulnerability and honesty.
